Senegal – sovereign country located southeast of the Sénégal River in Western Africa.[1] Senegal is bound by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania north, Mali to the east, and Guinea and Portuguese Guinea to the south. The Gambia lies almost entirely within Senegal, enclosed on the north, east and southwest; from its western coast, Gambia's territory follows the Gambia River more than 300 kilometres (190 mi) inland. Dakar is the capital city of Senegal, placed connected the Republic of Cape Verde Peninsula on the nation's Atlantic coast.
